Yay Yoga Today teachers!
I just heard about a book on NPR outlining the possible perils of yoga, one of the main ones being that so many teachers out there are ill-equipped to teach. At first I was angry that the author was criticizing yoga, but then I remembered that during the two years I belonged to a studio, I injured myself multiple times. I strained my lower back four or five times, to the point where I could barely move for a few days, I pulled my hamstring, I sprained my ankle, and I constantly strained my wrists doing chataranga without the strength to back it up. My favorite class was the Ashtanga primary series, and the back of my neck would usually be sore after the shoulder stand sequence, and I never really knew why. I think yoga is wonderful, but I injured myself so often because my teachers persuaded me that I was able to do yoga beyond my ability. I've been doing daily classes at Yoga Today for over a year now, and I have not injured myself once. I feel that's a true testament to the teaching ability of Sarah, Adi, and Neesha. I'm happy to have found such gifted teachers at Yoga Today. I am in good hands.

Recovery and Coping
I belong to a support group for loved ones effected by addiction and it's related behaviors. One of the members is really into Yoga and she is 64 yrs old! Her demeanor was so amazingly calm and serene while she struggles in coping with her son's addiction...
Eight months ago I decided to quit smoking cigarettes and 6 months ago I started practicing with Yoga Today. My son's addictions are not negatively affecting me nearly as much as it has over the years.
I'm so very grateful for YogaToday.com because it has shown me the path to the balance I need within myself.

Becoming Invincible
3 1/2 years ago, when I was only 32, I had breast cancer. It was never supposed to happen to a healthy young mum like myself ... but it did. So, with baby on hip, I survived cancer, and chemotherapy and radiation therapy. And now I'm working on making my body strong so cancer *never* *comes* *back*.
Yoga helps ground me in reality; focus my brain on the important things; and conditions my body - all things that make me stronger. And help me with patience, now that my daughter's 4 ...

Tapping into the peace of the moment
Hello YogaToday. Like so many people I have experienced past trauma's in my life that have left me feeling emotionally broken and without trust in my own power. I signed up for an Ashtanga class at my university on a whim and powered through it, finding pride in just completing it and noticing how my strength and flexibility changed with every week of practice. Once I had a handle on the poses, I found Yoga Today's videos and practiced alone - but it never felt that way - with your excellent guidance.
As of this month I have been doing an hour or two of yoga every day and it has completely transformed my life. I set an intention of non-judging for every practice, and have learned to accept the moment and see things for what they really are devoid of the cloudy expectations of the mind. This has really carried into my outside world, as I am able to see other people and other situations using my peaceful intuition and not my judgmental mind. The practice of yoga has been truly therapeutic for me and I look forward to my time on the mat every day. I just needed to thank you so much for helping me find that inner groundedness that I always hear yogis talking about. Namaste
